Renting the Villa

Gîte ‘Amiel’

If you like doing your own thing, then you can rent the Villa as a whole on a self catering basis.
The advantage of this is that you have more flexibility and a much lower cost per person.

Flexibility

You can come and go as you please.
You have free use of the kitchen, lounge, veranda, garden, barbeque and more.

Lower Costs

For a couple staying on a B & B basis – 7 nights would cost approximately €500.  That’s just over €35 per head per night.
Renting the whole Villa for 15 people on a self catering basis can cost as little as €975 for a week.  This works out to just over
€9 per head
per night.

However, there are two things to bear in mind.

  1. You will be required to pay a deposit against damages and cleaning of €795.  This will be refunded in full within 21 days of the end of your stay, providing you left everything undamaged and in proper order.
  2. Full payment must be received 8 weeks before you arrive, or when booking if you book less than 8 weeks in advance.

As is typical under the gîte system, the price for accommodation does NOT include sheets and towels, as most people like to bring their own.  However, if this is impractical for you, you can rent these as set out below.

Bed Linen – Comprising bottom sheet, top sheet, pillowcase, (per stay)
€10 per person

Towels and flannels (per stay)
€ 8 per person

Starter pack of groceries: Tea, Coffee, 3 litres whole Milk, 5 French breads, 5 packs cold meats, selection of cheeses, 5 bottles of red wine, 5 litres orange juice, pack of butter. Don’t bother with this unless you’re going to turn up late or on a Pubic Holiday, as there are shops in the village that are open until 18:30 most days and until 12:00 on Sunday.  Menton is only 25 minutes away and has large supermarkets too.

Why do self catering?

The Villa Amiel has really nice accommodation.  It’s not just a gîte – for many months in the year it’s our home too, so you won’t be palmed off with cheapo furniture and grotty stuff like that.  The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms well appointed, the kitchen is large, useable and friendly.  No-one who has stayed here has ever told us they were disappointed.

As you’re doing self catering, you can invite friends over for meals.  Maybe not everyone you are wanting to holiday with can be there for all of your stay.  Why not have other friends in for the rest of your stay?

Don’t forget, with the facilities we have here, the Villa is suitable for uses other than just holidays.

Parties and celebrations

We have a large garden that is often used to hold receptions and parties for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, professional meetings, and more.  If you’re having a wedding party, why not extend the celebrations over a whole weekend or even a week?  You not only have somewhere to hold your party, but also somewhere nice for your long-distance guests to stay as well.

There is a large kitchen and a large well-appointed barbeque in the garden, easily big enough to cater for over 100 people.
Indoors you have the veranda.  At over 60msq, this is spacious enough to cater for 50 guests.  Together with the connecting lounge it makes a wonderful venue for at least 100 people.

We have the usual facilities such as washing machine, tumble drier, free view satellite TV, video and DVD player in the lounge.
The bigger bedrooms also have their own TV (Local channels only).

All the rooms in the main house have air con too.

The annex houses the two smaller rooms which can take two or three people, with each room having its own WC and shower.
However, these two rooms also have the advantage of a door between them, so are ideal for a family too.

Advantages for Sports Clubs and Association.

Also in the annex there is a large secure basement area that is ideal for storing bikes or other equipment.  It has light and power so is ideal for doing running repairs to bikes and so forth.

If you want to organise an association or club holiday, frankly you won’t find such a high level of accommodation at these prices anywhere within the area.

Over the years we have gained a multitude of experienced contacts in virtually all of the sports and recreations that go on locally.
So if you would like help with finding good quality, experienced guides for Walking, Mountain Biking, Hang gliding and so forth, please let us know.

Bikers love staying here, as not only is the accommodation tip-top there is also secure parking too.

Guided Tours

We can arrange guided tours for all the surrounding towns, villages and sights.  These start from as little as €150 per day plus expenses for the guide.  You may also wish to allow for transport costs such as bus or train fares or vehicle hire if you prefer.  Please let us know what you require.  We can organise themed tours as well, so if you’re into architecture, plants, history or whatever, please let us know as we can help there too.

We also have extensive local knowledge for walkers and can both advise and guide on about 200 different walks in the surrounding area covering a range of ‘beautiful for beginners’ to ‘flipping hard’, but both absolutely stunning.
